Understanding the Music of LifeBy Fred Gregory Cantor reprinted from LightWaves magazine The Universe is made manifest through music. Everything that we perceive as matter and energy is simply vibration. Very fast vibrations are perceived as light waves, and very slow ones are perceived as solid matter, but everything is vibrating. These vibrations follow a conscious pattern that is musical in nature. This pattern underlies all of creation, from the galaxies to the cells of our bodies. Musical relationships serve as the prototypes for interpersonal relationships. Understanding how harmony works in music can help us to create harmony in ourselves and in our relationships. When we understand the patterns of musical vibration and how they can interact, we find that music is a very powerful force that can be used nit just for entertainment but for healing our physical and mental bodies and for growth and enlightenment of our spiritual dimensions. The ancient sages of India and China knew this, as did the astrologers of both the Old and New World. Modern medicine is just beginning to explore the healing and therapeutic powers of music. Yet even the most skeptical of doctors cannot deny the evidence that music can be used to promote healing, to reduce stress, and to help manage many of the illnesses prevalent in our society. We know that some types of music will soothe and relax us after a hard days work, and that other types will energize us and really get us going. Did you know that musical vibrations are correlated to the chakras (energy centers) within you, and to the cosmos around you? Music is not just the universal language spoken by all human cultures: it is the Language of the Universe that aligns the galaxies and the stars. The twelve signs of the Zodiac and the twelve tones of the scale are manifestations of the same phenomenon. There are eight white keys in an octave that relate to the eight trigrams of the I Ching. The five black keys are related to the five elements and the five senses. These topics are explored in depth in my Music of Life program. For more information, please contact Fcanto@fredzilla.com. |
